Just got back...much to come later....
Revival Robin Mark
I hear the voice of one calling, prepare ye the way of the Lord. And make His paths straight in the wilderness And let your light shine in the darkness And let your rain fall in the desert.
As sure as gold is precious and the honey sweet, So you love this city and you love these streets. Every child out playing by their own front door Every baby laying on the bedroom floor.
Every dreamer dreaming in her dead-end job Every driver driving through the rush hour mob I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones You're going to send revival, bring them all back home
I can hear that thunder in the distance Like a train on the edge of town I can feel the brooding of Your Spirit "Lay your burdens down, Lay your burdens down".
From the Preacher preaching when the well is dry To the lost soul reaching for a higher high From the young man working through his hopes and fears To the widow walking through the veil of tears
Every man and woman, every old and young Every fathers daughter, every mothers son. I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones You're going to send revival, bring them all back home
I can hear that thunder in the distance Like a train on the edge of town I can feel the brooding of Your Spirit "Lay your burdens down, Lay your burdens down".
Revive us, Revive us, Revive us with your fire!

And she said, How can I help you to say goodbye? It's OK to hurt, and it's OK to cry Come, let me hold you and I will try How can I help you to say goodbye?

The best part of the day....
12.25.03 (9:25 pm) [edit]
Present opening at our house this year was so eventful and momentous that it requires a blog of its own.
We decided to open presents alphabetically in order this year. First Ben, then Dan, then me, then...
Mom: "I get to go next because my name is MOM--M-O-M--that comes after Martina and before Nathan! Yes!" Me: "Yeah. You ALSO get to go next because your name is MARYLOU--which comes after Martina, before Nathan, and oh! Before Mom."
..then Samantha and finally Dad (Steve).
So Daniel opens up his Secret Santa present from Samantha (a shirt and pants that us two picked out for him, that look soo good on him--we had him try them on when we got them to make sure they fit!). He of course has already seen the clothes.
Danieiel: "YOU GOT ME GAY PANTS!! LOOK AT THE STRIPES!!" Dad: "Hey sammy, couldnt you have gotten him a new pair? Those are already worn!" Me: "Daniel look! MY pants have stripes on them too!" Daniel: "YOU GOT ME GIRL PANTS! AHHH!!"
And of course he wore them for the rest of the day, just like the sweet corduroys he got last night from Santa that Sammy and I also picked out.
So it looks like we are done opening presents, and Daniel tells Nathan to look in the big computer monitor box by his head (assumed to be empty) Nate pulls out an assortment of small packages. He opens the first and finds a coke glass...with a Barney figurine inside! He hurls it across the room at Daniel and opens the next package. Thick socks for hiking. Daniel tells him to look inside the two-pack. Another Barney figurine. I tell Nathan that I found a set of them at the Dollar Store and knew that Daniel would love to include them in his Secret Santa present to Nathan (since we already knew who everyone had, anyway)...Nathan hurls Barney figurine #2 at me. Nathan then opens up the third package and finds an action hero figurine set. He places it on the couch next to him, but not without a glare and scream in Daniel's direction. Fourth package: a camping mug...with Barney figurine #3 inside.
Mom: "Nathan, what's that?" Nathan: "What do you think?!?!?" Daniel: "It's RAINCOAT BARNEY"
And with that the third and final Barney figurine travels across the room, once more in Daniel's general direction.
Nathan: "I think it's about time that I get Daniel's Christmas present. Ben, run upstairs and get my small suitcase" Ben: (runs upstairs and quickly returns with the suitcase) "Here Dan"
Daniel unzips the suitcase and pulls out a two foot tall rainbow pink Care Bear, courtesy of Nathan's frat brothers. Mom and Dad just about have heart attacks from laughing so hard, while Daniel curls up with his new friend and says in his very gay-est voice "Pink! My favorite color."
To appreciate this present exchange between Dan and Nathan, it's important to understand the Barney war between them...I don't feel like typing it now, so if you don't know it....that stinks.
Samantha opened her present from me (LOTR FOTR extended version 4 DVD set) and Dad was wondering what it was. Sam told him it was an extended version. I added that it was with extended battle scenes, and they did them just for him because they know how much he loves them (he hates drawn-out battle scenes)
I opened my Secret Santa present and found out my Secret Santa was Nathan....who knew?! If only I hadn't opened the present three weeks before and found out then....but I had to make sure that the backpack fit, after all, I couldn't very well spend three weeks backpacking in Europe with an uncomfortable backpack now, could I?
When Daniel opened his present from me and pulled out a plaid button-down shirt, my Mom was ready with "Oh DANIEL! That is the coolest bling-bling shirt ever! Ha-zah!"
And then she proceeded to "Merry Kiss-mas" a very indignant Daddy, and had to beg him for a kiss on the lips. I think he is a little sick of "Merry Kiss-mas" every five minutes, although he does get a kick out of Daniel's reaction.
In sum: My family is nuts.

Great day spent with Dad's side of the family at our house....Mom continues to be a nutcase with the "Merry Kissmas," "Ha-zah!" and "bling bling." And guess what game the family got from Santa Clause? Cranium. That's right. The one and only game that I was not too thrilled to be playing at the Birbs last year...but I like it now so its ok
Conversation of the day (Making fun of my Mom): Me: Hey Grandma, that sweater is sooo bling-bling Grandma: Bling...bling? Naomi: Hey Grandma can I trade you my shirt for your bling-bling sweater? Grandma: Oh well, I think it's a little too bling-bling for your age, and besides, the bling-bling doesn't come off!
She got the hang of it reeaaaallll quick-like!
IM convo of the day: (Jess's SN): well I dont see ANYONE being foreign (Jess's SN): haha, its livonia (My SN): yeah (Jess's SN): population: WHITE
And let's not forget the reason for the season....It's Jesus!!

He loves me!
12.24.03 (9:59 pm) [edit]
There are lots of things to celebrate at Christmas. You can catch up with friends from home that you haven't seen since the summer, spend time with family that you haven't seen since last Christmas, see the joy in others when they open that perfect present you gave them, and experience your own joy opening presents that Santa Clause and others gave to you. But sometimes friends back out, family can't make it, the perfect present isn't so perfect, and no one gets you quite what you were hoping for. So what is there to be joyful about on a Christmas gone sour? JESUS WAS BORN!
Ok, so maybe not exactly on December 25. That isn't the point. It is a day to CELEBRATE his birth, to rejoice in the fact that God loved ME so much that he sent a Son to earth knowing full well that He would die on a cross as a common sinner just a few short decades later. That is love at its best, and it can't be found anywhere except for God. HE LOVES ME! I could just scream it from the rooftops! If I were the only person in the world, He still would have sent His Son for me, just for me!
I love it!!
Yeah, this is the Christmas Spirit, to be loved unconditionally, and to love my Big Daddy in return :)

He's still listening :)
12.22.03 (8:37 pm) [edit]
First and foremost I have to say thanks to Kate and the Birbs for letting us girls stay in your condo for the weekend. You're fabulous! And between the free stay and the free lift tickets :D due to our most wonderful Wilderness Club connections, that was one great weekend ski trip!! Not to mention all the fun had with the girls ("Looking for lice?" "Shalom" "Clemintins and PB, J"....) I love you all and I am going to miss you like whoa when I am in Spain.
I babysat for MacIntosh's today and they are cute as ever, and then tonight was fun times with Mariel and Kari Christmas shopping. I got two pairs of great jeans (for myself--so much for the Christmas shopping for other people goal) but they are so cute and were such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up. Mariel provided entertainment for the night with her bad girl stories and we had some lovely philosophical discussions, in true Kari fashion, about love lives, religion, family relationships, a certain boy Mariel is interested in, ya da da da da....
And the best news? I found the quote that I wanted to put up a few days ago. Consider it my Christmas present to you!
God's Favor Toward Us
Max Lucado
There are many reasons God saves you: to bring glory to Himself, to appease His justice, to demonstrate His sovereignity. But one of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He is fond of you. He likes having you around. He thinks you are the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while...if God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your picture would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe and He chose your heart. And the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem? Face it, friend. He's crazy about you! :D

He's listening.....
12.17.03 (8:41 pm) [edit]
Well, I asked for Divine inspiration, and I got it. But I lost it :( It was some quote from one of Max Lucado's books that they handed out tonight at the Buffalo/Niagara prayer meeting, and it was fabulous, but it must have slipped out of the pack of papers I had and I don't remember it well enough, and I searched forever for it online, and I found this, which I like a lot, but it wasn't my Divine inspiration for the evening. Maybe tomorrow.
You Can Talk to God by Max Lucado
You and I live in a loud world. To get someone's attention is no easy task. He must be willing to set everything aside to listen: turn down the radio, turn away from the monitor, turn the corner of the page and set down the book. When someone is willing to silence everything else so he can hear us clearly, it is a privilege. A rare privilege, indeed.
You can talk to God because God listens. Your voice matters in heaven. He takes you very seriously. When you enter His presence, the attendants turn to you to hear your voice. No need to fear that you will be ignored. Even if you stammer or stumble, even if what you have to say impresses no one, it impresses God—and He listens. He listens to the painful plea of the elderly in the rest home. He listens to the gruff confession of the death-row inmate. When the alcoholic begs for mercy, when the spouse seeks guidance, when the businessman steps off the street into the chapel, God listens.
Intently. Carefully. The prayers are honored as precious jewels. Purified and empowered, the words rise in a delightful fragrance to our Lord. "The smoke from the incense went up from the angel's hand to God" (REVELATION 8:4 NCV). Incredible. Your words do not stop until they reach the very throne of God.
Max Lucado quote is from his book The Great House of God. Used by permission of the W Publishing Group, a division of Thomas Nelson, Inc. All rights reserved.
God Bless!

Come on people, just read the books
12.17.03 (12:11 pm) [edit]
I decided that today I would write a really insightful blog, but have not as of yet thought of a topic. I need Divine inspiration.
Went to Return of the King last night, and it was most excellent. It's always great when movie trilogies get better as they go on...there have been too many disappointing sequels and third installments as of late. Since I went to the midnight showing, they were handing out fun stuff, including LOTR bookmarks. One girl asked what to use them for, and someone told her that if she ever read the books she could have a matching bookmark. She replied by saying "Why would I ever want to read a piece of **** book like that?"
It wasn't easy, but I restrained myself.
How ridiculous? Why would you ever not want to read the book if you like the movies enough to come to the midnight showing?? The books, in my mind, are even better than the movies--and they have so much more in them, so much more history and so much more action. The movies have been awesome to visualize what I have read, but seriously, read the books!! Sometimes peopple just don't make sense to me, at all :(
And for this reason, Matt Ray is my hero, because not only has he read the books, but knows everything you can possibly know about them (as evidenced by the pre-sucky trivia game warmup). Now THERE is a true Lord of the Rings fan.
I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with seeing the movie, reading the books, and liking the movie more, but at least give the books a chance before you pass judgment. Please--for me--since I have less than a month left in the States
Then, of course, there are fans like my sister: Samantha: "I just love LOTR, it is my favorite movie ever, and Legolas is my favorite actor in the world" Me: "Hey did you know that Orlando Bloom is in Pirates of the Caribbean?" Samantha: "Who is Orlando Bloom?"
She has since been educated, and is a slightly better fan.
And if this blog makes me a super dork, that's ok because we already knew that, but at least I am a FAST dork!!

Ok now I am pissed because I just wrote a 90234092039 paragraph long blog about my week since my last update, and it didn't work, and I am not writing it again. So what it said (in brief):
*Hour long phone convo with Pereda *Samantha is bored out of her mind *Subbed for a half day friday *Not sad about not being at Naz anymore *Excited for Spain, a little nervous *Sewed many pajama pants *Dad is making cookies right now *Cleaned my room for 90 hours today *Krissy is back from Germany :) *Blizzard! *Excited for skiing w/the suitemates and my replacement *Yay for catching Saddam *My future husband Dave is the Chittenango Swim Team
Song of the day: I Would -- Proclaimers
Quote of the Day: "As far as I know, he is attempting something that has never been attempted before" -- Chitt. schools superintendent, talking about my future husband, who is so brave and daring and we are getting married. Yay Davie :)

While I do love my country music and my eighties music, nothing makes me feel better than my Christian music, and that is that: especially if it is Newsboys :D
I got mucho done today on my term paper, which is wonderful. I didn't sub again today which is stinky because that means I could STILL be at Naz :( and I still miss it mucho a lot....a lot a lot.
But I had fun at Givens' and I just love the kids I babysit for and the parents too, and I miss hanging out with them when I'm at school. Drew and Jason are too old for a babysitter now, Drew is babysitting other kids!! I am getting OLD!
Big Bad was mean to me at the basketball game tonight...he likes picking on me and one of these days it's going to catch up to him, he'd better watch out!
Song of the day: Million Pieces by the Newsboys

I have never been homesick before in my life, but I can now say that I've been Nazsick. You have no idea how much I miss you all and I haven't even been gone for 32 hours yet.
I read all my Christmas cards from Saturday night this morning and of course I started crying, you big brats. And then I started thinking about the Spanish paper I had to write and I started crying more...
...kidding, I just put it off for tomorrow.

To all my wonderful friends at Nazareth: Thanks for stopping by and saying goodbye today, it really meant a lot....and I didn't cry until 6:15!! And then Sheila was crying, and she isn't even leaving yet, and she is going to be staying WITH me in Spain. Jeepers, that crazy girl.
I love all of you oh so very much and I am going to miss you like whoa in Spain, and I know I will be having the time of my life and I probably won't even have time to think about what I am missing out on here, but right now it just is very bittersweet. I just wish all of you could come over with me and She, and then life would be grand, wouldn't it?!
Megan & Abby (two girls in the suite across the hall, my Alias buddies) gave me a most wonderful secret agent mission for when I am in Spain....they are the best Alias buddies ever!! And Alias tonight was WONDERFUL and WILL is BACK!! AHHH!! And Sydney got some action!! Woohoo!! I just wish that I was in your room watching it with you, it's just not the same when I'm by myself, thanks girls for everything.
Well now it's time for bed, in my own bed, which I will be sleeping in for the next 35 days, and then I will be sleeping in a bed in Spain--which is so weird. I was thinking today about speaking Spanish all day, every day, and I got really scared because I can't speak it for five minutes if I'm trying to be serious! But then I was thinking that I always stop trying after a little bit, so I feel as though I will improve really fast. At least, I hope so. At any rate, Sheila and Jessica and Faye and Kelly will be having the same problems ;) I think I will just have one gigundous headache for the first couple of weeks due to brain overexertion.
With all that said, goodnight Chittenango, goodnight Nazareth, goodnight Spain.
Song of the day: You Can't Take The Honky-Tonk Out of the Girl by Brooks and Dunn
Quote of the day: Kate (to Ang): "Martina wants me to ask you for the foreign one, but I'm not sure if she said four-in-one or foreign one" Angela: "hahahaha" Me: "Exactly." Too bad Cassie missed it :!:

....and after six hours of fun with Lee Struble it was time for....
THE CHRISTMAS/GOODBYE DINNER EXTRAVANGANZA AT OLIVE GARDEN
*Free willy: "Hold me, Daddy will feed me" *Lion King/Beauty and the Beast (Hot mufasa/beast) *Poop discussions, because we are that cool *Your face!! *More to follow when I am more awake
and then....
SECRET SANTA and the never-ending party in our room, continuing as I type...
Let's just say that at this very moment, Jessica-Kimble Dodge is in the bathroom screaming about how she can't get her pants off and is peeing herself. Megan is singing Falling with her beautiful voice, Cassie has major cramps because of Megan and has her pants half off so she can massage her stomach, and in the meantime is still wearing her Mrs. McNamara hat, and Angela...wait, where is Angela? Sheila just left a little while ago with beeper in hand after we stared down a scary man outside our window who is probably going to shoot us. Actually Jessica was screaming about seeing him in the hall, which scared the crap out of me. I just wanted to go hide under my bed again, I like it down there, it reminds me of when I moved into my closet at home for four months--the best four months of my life!! I wonder if Jess will ever leave....
Too bad Kate and Kat didn't stick around. They just used me for my Mary Kay Satin Hands and Satin Lips, but then again, can you blame them?!
Convos of the night: Jessica: "I know Spanish! Shake your bon-bon shake your bon-bon" Sheila: "Umm that's not Spanish" Jessica: "Yeah" Megan: "Well I'm pretty sure that "shake your" is English..." Martina: "...and "bon-bon" is just Ricky Martin"
....Much more to come as I remember it all

I love the eighties!
12.06.03 (11:56 pm) [edit]
My last weekend at Naz kicked off most fabulously with Las Posadas (muchos quesitos deliciosos) and then 80s NIGHT!!
So first, Son of Glam concert (who I have been in love with ever since NACA: picture your Dad in tight leather pants and a big wig playing Def Leppard, Van Halen, White Snake...they are the best air band ever ever ever! Pictures will follow). Inspired by the girls across the hall, I dressed for the decade, baby!
And then of course came the 80s mixer, and I just have two things to say about that: First of all, I can't believe how many people came out and dressed up, adding more support for the argument that Nazareth is the biggest nerd school ever :) and two, that Jessica Butler is my 80s idol.
And of COURSE we had to do 80s dances--which resulted in six straight hours of aerobics: useful because of the excessive consumption of Spanish food at Las Posadas.
All that exercise put me to sleep pretty darn freakin fast at 2:30....stinky stinky since I had an 8am defensive driving class this morning....
Quote of the Morning: "Jerry! You're TERRIBLE!" (Courtesy of the DD movie)
Song of the day: Wake me up before you go-go by Wham, because it is my favorite 80s song :D

12.04.03 (8:10 pm) [edit]
Today was my very last day of Partners and that makes me really sad :(
But it was also Student Ambassador dinna part-ay at Jack Astor's and that made me really glad!!
And then there was a Spanish Club meeting. Seriously, the Spanish Club is the biggest load of crap that I have ever encountered in my entire life. We did freaking elections and the Junta (the real Junta, I am not including myself because I suck, and don't include Sheila or Kristen either because they aren't dumb) decided not to give anyone a chance to say what they want to run for first, just put down whoever you feel would make a good whatever position, and ta-da! They are elected. Bull. Crap. Kristen has been PR/Historian/Secretary all freaking semester and has nothing because people are dumb!! AND the Junta decided that it would be good to have co-positions for everything so that it would be easier. HELLO!! We have enough problems with communication as it is, what makes them think things will magically work out next semester?? Now they're going to have to communicate within positions in addition to between positions--ridiculous. Seriously folks, the Spanish Club has issues like whoa.
Tomorrow is my last day of classes for the semester, AND Son of Glam is coming to Nazareth :-D How excited am I?! Woohoo! I'm coming home Sunday for good...until I leave for Spain January 12. Wow time flies.

12.02.03 (9:06 pm) [edit]
I never knew I could be so productive!!
With Megan gone tonight, I had six hours straight to work on whatever I needed to get done for tomorrow (a lot)--not only did I finish all of that, but I also finished everything that is due Thursday, and some of my papers that are due next week!! Although considering the circumstances, I would rather Megan had been here distracting me :( My prayers are with everyone in Canandaigua.
Today was my second-to-last day of work at Partners for the year, and that makes me really sad because I just love my kids and they are so cute especially when they speak Spanish to me. I am going to miss them a lot. Not Mrs. Smith, though, I won't miss her. She was alright, but a little scary and too demanding, the crazy lady.
And I found out that my Spanish Lover is cheating on me with my other Spanish Lover, which is no good.
Quote of the day: (From Sheila, when she found out I knew about her affair with Kristen) (Sheila's SN): cuando tu no estas conmigo, no puedo respirar Sheila's SN): no puedo vivir Sheila's SN): no quiero vivir sin ti
Song of the day: Pirates of the Caribbean Track #6, because PC came out today :-D

An unexpected early morning started off a long, stressful day.
Note to drivers: if there is a car accident right in front of you, you need to be more patient than you would be otherwise. Don't honk at the car in front of you to move if they can't--it won't do anything except get people pissed of at you. And in bad weather, you can't drive like you usually do. Drive safely and save a life.
For the record, Coltrane & Collins and I are no longer friends.
